Reading Florence Registry Data Carefully

Registration Levels and Duties in South Carolina
South Carolina's I, II, and III tiers set the earliest removal route. They are not the same as routine verification frequency. Registration is generally biannual for life unless written relief is granted. Federal-SORNA Tier III registrants and sexually violent predators verify every 90 days. A registrant must also report in counties of residence, owned property, work, or school, and covered changes generally must be made within three business days.

Covered offenders also face a 1,000-foot residence restriction with statutory exceptions. Tier alone does not tell the reader whether a person verifies every 90 days. Those are separate legal classifications.
Florence Registry Removal Review
The removal process is paper based. The applicant supplies full identity and contact data, every registration conviction, the conviction and current-registration counties, certifications, signature, and notarization. The packet requires two FD-258 fingerprint sets, a $250 cashier's check or money order, all disposition and sentencing records, and proof of treatment completion. Registration duties continue until SLED grants written relief.
SLED has 120 days after a complete qualifying request. The prosecutor may object. Tier III relief begins with a General Sessions motion after the waiting period, and an administrative denial may be appealed to General Sessions. In Florence County, that means the local Circuit Court criminal division can become part of the review path. Juvenile appeals go to Family Court.
Eligibility also requires no failure-to-register conviction during the prior ten years and no new sexual offense after placement. The applicant should use SLED's official registry-removal form and instructions, not assume that reaching a time threshold ends registration by itself.
The removal form asks for the current registration county, conviction jurisdiction, all registration offenses, address, phone, email, and signed certifications. Mail the complete paper packet to the SLED SOR Unit at PO Box 21398, Columbia, SC 29221, and keep proof of delivery.

Using Registry Information Lawfully
Registry information supports community awareness and personal or family safety planning. It must not be used to harass, threaten, injure, intimidate, or organize private enforcement. Contact FCSO or SLED when a profile appears wrong or a registrant may be out of compliance. Law enforcement can compare public data with registration records that are not open for private inspection.
Misuse is a crime: Under S.C. Code ยง23-3-510, a crime committed with registry information can bring added punishment, including up to $1,000 and six months for a misdemeanor or up to five added years for a felony.
The portal warns that its information may change and is not a warning about any one person. Keep searches within that purpose. Do not visit a listed place, contact a registrant, share unverified claims, or treat a registry profile as proof of a new offense.
