Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Florence County Criminal History. Opening a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept them. If you disagree with any condition, do not continue using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Florence County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. This website and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit decisions, employment screening, tenant evaluation, insurance underwriting, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource points to criminal-record sources in Florence County and South Carolina. It is neither a private-investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no connection to a public office. We neither store official records nor retrieve them, perform an official check, or submit documents for a user.

Its role is to identify record custodians, including Florence County Sheriff's Office, local criminal courts, SLED's repository, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect visitors with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with availability or prevent another visitor's access
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools on the pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Use information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Violate federal, South Carolina, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use site information or a linked tool to intimidate, stalk, threaten, harass, or discriminate. That conduct can also be criminal. South Carolina places specific limits on use of its Sex Offender Registry. Under S.C. Code § 23-3-510, criminal misuse of registry information can increase punishment. Registry access supports public awareness, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or discriminatory treatment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce credit reports, background checks, or other consumer reports. Advertising partners do not offer linked services for evaluating applicants, borrowers, insureds, or renters. Information from this website or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a renter or housing application
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity governed by the FCRA

A legally permitted check for one of those purposes must use an appropriate official process or a screening company that complies with the FCRA. SLED controls South Carolina criminal-history products but does not turn this website into an approved screening service.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Florence County charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to a specific situation. Seek advice from a lawyer licensed in South Carolina.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner's search results will be complete or correct
  • The pages contain no bugs, errors, or security weakness
  • The website will remain continuously available
  • Every detail is current, complete, and accurate

Charges can be filed or dismissed, and records can be changed or expunged. Updates may not appear here at once. Only the relevant court, sheriff, SLED, or other custodian can make an official statement about its record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may point to Florence County offices, courts, South Carolina agencies, legal-aid groups, or outside search services. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, prices, or availability. Review an external provider's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Florence County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, logos, graphics, and code. Written permission is required before copying, distributing, modifying, or creating derivative material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage resulting from use of the website, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless against claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or a violation of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

South Carolina law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the website must be brought in a court located in South Carolina. Public-record access remains subject to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, Title 30, Chapter 4, and SLED criminal-history dissemination is governed in part by S.C. Code § 23-3-115.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A revision takes effect when the new terms are posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
